When I was an IT admin, I had the pleasure of dealing often with people who would submit urgent service requests and then leave for the day, leaving their office empty and computer locked by the time I could get there to help. Fortunately, I was often able to fix their problem while they weren’t there. Why? Their password was somewhere on their desk in one of these easy-to-find locations.

So here is my test post to see how it works for me.  So far I am leaning heavily toward Microsoft Live Writer which has been my favorite for years, but I am always will to test out others and see what they allow me to do with a simple post.

I have been wearing reading glasses since my 40th birthday.  The eye doc said that was usually the birthday present that many got at that celebration…or near to it.

Since I have almost 20/20 distance vision I have a plethora of dollar store reading glasses around my digs and work, at all time.  I also usually have a pair on my head since they are easy to find and I have to try and remember where I left them.

A month or so ago I heard someone mention that they had one contact lens for distance and in the other eye one for reading so they didn’t need any glasses.

I thought, “hmmm, I wonder if I could wear just one contact for reading?”

I had an eye doc appointment coming up in a couple of weeks and figured I would ask.  Guess what?  I now wear one contact in my right eye and can see well enough, well to type this on my notebook.  That is cool.

I am going to donate all but one of my reading glasses to somewhere and keep one for just in case scenarios. 

I used to where contacts for about 30 years and quit about 10 years ago for no real reason that I can think of.  It was just like riding a bike popping in the first one last week.  The newer contacts are much thinner and much easier to take care of than in the olden days.   However, (here it comes) they are a real pain to put in.  In the ancient times, I would touch it to my eye and it would just jump on.  Now, you have to cajole them on, play with them, move and rub them.  And so far after a week with it, it takes me longer to put it in.

I go for a check up the middle of next week to make sure all is well with it and will ask for the secret installation procedure.

You may want to check this out too.  And I went to a place that took good care of me so here is an add for “America’s Best Contact and Eyeglasses”.  Apparently a new franchise I had never heard of and although they are good and inexpensive, they add is slightly off from reality in my opinion.

OpenOffice is included and for you folks that don’t want to run a Virtual box or wipeout your current computer, you can run it in total from a CD.  You can create your own CD for free or buy one for about $10.

I am using ScribeFire to write this since Live Writer (Microsoft’s great blogging app) is for Windows only.

This week, while on vacation, I got tired of seeing all the CITI Bank advertisements mailed to us.  I decided to see how many of them we got.

The grand total in one, seven day week.  TWELVE (12) applications for a pre-approved credit cards.  I was approved for almost enough to payoff my house. We don’t now and have never done business with them and will not in the future.

I’m sorry that things must be so bad for CITI Bank that they are overly desperate for customers.  I wonder if they have ever thought about how much money you could save if you just stopped sending me those stinking ads?!

And what really gets on my nerves is that since the app has my name (or wife’s) on each one and I have a small shredder I have to open each one and grab out all the pages that reference us by name.  Just so maybe I can keep someone from stealing my identity.

Come on CITI bank get over it.

If only I could get rid of snail-mail just like I did a landline phone 10 years ago.  Then I would not get this junk any more.

Enough is enough already…you aren’t even taken seriously as a bank in this house anymore.

And don’t forget why we have Christmas to begin with.
